This might be one of my favorite recipes, in good part because my husband is the one who makes it! And also because it has cheese.
It’s actually his mother’s recipe, but she showed him how to make it once, so it’s his territory. ;)

Ingredients:
6 slices of bread
2-3 cups of grated cheddar cheese
10 oz package frozen chopped broccoli
1.5-2 cups diced ham
1.75 cups milk
3 eggs
1-2 teaspoons dry mustard
1-2 tablespoons dry minced onions
Directions:
Microwave broccoli according to package directions (about 5 minutes), drain well.
Butter bottom of 7”x9” or 8”x8” casserole dish.
Using different sized glasses, make 6 donuts out of bread slices.
Put bread “donut” holes and other leftover bread pieces in bottom of casserole dish, torn up, reserving the donuts.
Cover bread in bottom of dish with most of the cheese, reserving ½ cup.
Add layer of broccoli.
Add layer of ham.
Put the 6 bread donuts on top.

Beat 3 eggs in small bowl or glass and add dry mustard and minced onions. Stir well.
Add egg mixture to milk and stir well.
Pour milk/egg mixture over the casserole dish, try to get all donuts moist.

Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
The following day, bake at 325 degrees for 55 minutes.
Add ½ cup leftover cheddar cheese to top and bake for 5 more minutes.
Let sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Serves 6.

You can also double this recipe using an 8”x13” casserole dish. No need to double the broccoli, but double everything else.
