Not The Usual Commute Home Tonight

Crazy, this is what I saw as I came over a hill on my drive home tonight, a gas explosion that destroyed 20 houses, not that far from where we used to live in San Bruno.

Traffic was at a standstill, I think everyone on the road had the same reaction as I did, "holy crap!" With my long commute, I see car wrecks nearly everyday, so they don't faze me anymore. But a giant ball of fire on the hill, that's cause for pause!

I feel so bad for the people who have lost their homes, and those injured. Luckily there were no deaths.

Midnight update: awful. Now its 53 homes lost, 120 homes damaged and 1 fatality. And the fire is only 50% contained almost 6 hours after the explosion. :(

Friday morning update: so sad, now the death toll is up to 4. I really hope they figure out how this happened, it's not common for gas lines to just rupture. Makes me very glad we don't live in San Bruno anymore, the explosion was about 1.5 miles from our old house.
