Basically, I've been thinking about these shoes a lot.
So last night when the commercial came on again, I paused it on my DVR and grabbed my camera, so I could at least get a better look at the heels in some photos, to maybe help me in my search for them. But in looking at the photos this morning, I discovered something. The little straps with the bows in the back that I've been so enamored with appear to just be strings tied behind the girl's ankles, and are not really straps at all.
Here's the photos I took, so you can see what I'm talking about:
See what I mean? It just looks like there are little black strings wrapped around the T-strap on the front, and just tied in the back into bows. I don't even think the strings are attached to the shoes themselves, and it's a super cute and easy way to add some extra oomph to basic T-strap sandals!
I actually don't have any T-straps like these, but I dug out an old pair of pink shoes that have a similar "scoop" on the ankles to try to see for myself if it was really that easy to create this extra strap + bow look. And it totally was!
(Please ignore my very dirty mirror, and floor!)
I am definitely inspired now to find some cheap black T-strap sandals, and add my own strings to recreate this look from the commercial myself! And it will be way easier than trying to track down some elusive brand of shoes I saw on TV!
Have you ever been inspired to recreate something you saw on TV for yourself?

Those are SO cute! I'm so impressed that you figured that out...they look amazing.
You have cute feet. That is why you have so many cute shoes. My little sausages don't look cute in anything like that! Someone would be like "why didn't you just find a bow to cover those flintstone toes!"
@Hannah, LOL, I SO do not have cute feet! My toes are all messed up from ballet, in fact, at one point there was talk of breaking my toes and resetting them so I could continue dancing!
Ah! This is such a great idea, you're a genius.
I actually really love the pink ones too! Good detective work ;)
Wow, you're good! And I love how easy that is to change the entire look of a shoe with one simple string and bow!!
Love it! I became similarly obsessed with a button down shirt that Pam wore in Little Fockers, that had buttons on the BACK, and it had a nice fit to it. I googled and googled and only found a bunch of posts of other people asking where to find the shirt. I STILL haven't found that dang shirt....
Very cute! Way to do some serious detective work - I love a lady who's serious about her shoes ;)
You have such a good eye! I never would have caught that! Super cute update on your pink shoes, and I may just have to try that trick myself!
Your shoes look awesome! I like them better than the ones in the ad!
Wow that's a cute idea! I'm sure the actual shoes would cost like five thousand times more. :]
I love the shoes in the commercial too!
beautiful!! I love how you recreated them! I fell in love with a necklace Emily wore on the bachleor last year and asked my dad (who makes jewelry) to recreate it... and he did! I like it even better (of course.. it was made by my dad lol) I plan to write up a post about it soon :-)
i want the shoes in the amex commercial, too
i came across your blog trying to find out more about those shoes
I knew I couldn't have been the only women who found those shoes cute. I'm definitely going to look for some t-straps now. thanks for your help.
Got confirmation from a friend in the business - the shoes from the commercial are Manolo's. No clue on the name/style though!
It is Manolo Blahnik! But it was only a sample shoe! They never sold the shoe!
Ive been searching for those sandals and I just read on a blog that they are Manolo's. SMH! They are awesome though! Someone needs to make a well made cheaper version of them which would be more affordable.
This is amazing--I used to stop every time that commercial came on because of those shoes and was just Googling them now when I came across your page! You did a lovely job. I would've never thought to recreate them myself, but you've just inspired me!

I LOVE THOSE SHOES. I have been searching for them ever since I saw the commercial and like another post...I stop each time the commercial comes on. It's like a quest...GOT TO HAVE THEM...Monolo or NOT...LOL...Good luck!
I WANTED THOSE SHOES TOO! My dreams are dashed.
