I know we sure did, but I'm definitely ready for a more relaxing weekend next week, since we did something every day--entertained family on Saturday night, my husband and I each went to separate BBQs on Sunday, and we joined Jill, her husband and one of her friends for music and fireworks at the Cary Amphitheater (although the music got cut short and the fireworks were canceled because of thunder and lightning. But at least we had some good food and a couple drinks before the rain started.). All in all, a great holiday weekend!
I cooked a ton of yummy food too, like spinach lasagna, french bread with fresh roasted garlic butter, Jessica's baked beans (with a little squirt of Mrs. Butterworth's added for even more maple flavor!), inside-out chocolate covered strawberries, mini turkey, bacon and avocado sandwiches and mini caprese sandwiches with buffalo mozzarella cheese and 18 year old balsamic vinegar. And on top of all of that, I was very productive and have a lot to share this week, including DIY roman shades I made for our pool table room, and the results of dying my rehearsal dinner dress!
But first things first, last week's update on my work-from-home outfits. This is week 6 of the series, and I'm still going strong with my motivation to wear something other than PJs every day, and I still haven't repeated any of my clothing items!
Monday:
Layered tops: JCPenny and Target, Ruffle Skirt: Old Navy, Necklace: Old Navy
White Knot Shoes: Target
Technically though, in the late afternoon I spilled red Crystal Light on my top, and had to change before meeting Katie for 1/2 price wine and garlic fries. I put on a white top I'd already worn the previous month (and then proceeded to get fry dip on it too!), but since I made it through most of the day before having to change tops, I'm not counting the spilling incident against my goal of no repeated clothing items for as long as possible!
Tuesday:
Sheer Bird-Print Top: H&M, Layering Tank: NY&Co, Jean Pencil Skirt: Express, Earrings: Target
Black and Gold Wedges: Colin Stuart (purchased through Victoria's Secret)
Wednesday:
Today was another "all about the shoes" outfit. I love these shoes, partly because they're the only shoes my husband has ever bought for me, as a surprise birthday present a few years back. A friend of mine told him I'd been lusting after them (but they were like $89 and way more than I normally spend on shoes), but he still gets good husband points in my book!
Top: Gap, Skirt (actually, it's a skort, cause it has shorts built in under the skirt. I think more celebs need to invest in these, then they wouldn't worry about flashing the paparazzi when getting out of cars!): Target, Matching Bracelet and Earrings: Target (I think)
Red, Black and White Heels: Colin Stuart (also from the Victoria's Secret website)
Thursday:
In retrospect, I'm not really loving this necklace with this outfit, but oh well! The outfit needed something, so this is what I ended up grabbing.
Top: Bass, Skirt: Kohl's, Necklace: Target
Shoes: Target (disclaimer, these are repeats, from week 2, but since they're shoes, not clothes, repeats are alright in my book!)
Friday:
Another one of my red dresses, for my not-so-casual Friday outfit. Perfect for dinner out that night at Jibarra in downtown Raleigh...mmm, their guac sampler appetizer with 4 guacamole to try was excellent, especially the goat cheese guac! Not to mention the fabulous blood orange margarita and amazing tacos!
This dress is a little on the low cut side, but unlike the dress last week, I don't worry about covering myself up as much with this one. The top of it has some gathering, so I can pull it in to cover "the girls" quite a bit, or I could pull it to the sides for a more revealing look if I so choose.
Red Dress: Victoria's Secret, Earrings: probably Target, since that's where most of my jewelry is from!
Strappy Heels: Aldo
Another week down! This is the first week I've actually made it into a put-together outfit all 5 work days, instead of my usual 4!
And now it's time to get to writing all the other things I have to share this week. Did anyone else have a productive 4th of July weekend?

Jibarra's goat cheese guac is the best! So surprising to find goat cheese in guacamole.
I'm a big fan of your Friday outfit.
WOW! All of that food sounds amazing! Next time, invite me over, lol ;)
Tuesday & Friday outfits are hot, hot, hot!
Oh, and I'm super excited to read about the results of the rehearsal dinner dress dye job!
Super cute clothes, as usual! I love the shoes your husband bought for you, and that last dress :)
Looks like you're still doing great with your work from home outfits! I love these, especially the jean pencil skirt, which is one of my favorite wardrobe staples. I had a great 4th of July, with plenty of time to relax and have fun -- a welcome change for me!
