You Are Not A Deer!

Yesterday afternoon, as I was rinsing out a glass in my kitchen sink, I caught sight of some movement near our salt lick, deer enticing planters! My heart started pounding, I inhaled sharply, and for a split second I was super excited. Deer, glorious deer!

Or not.

Once my eyes focused in on the shady planters and I saw what the movement actually was, I was at first sad, and then mad! The thing messing around on the planter was this little brat!

I was all, "WTF, squirrel!" to myself, grabbed my little point and shoot out of my nearby purse (which is why the quality of these photos isn't great), and snuck out on the back deck.

Seriously, could this damn squirrel be the one who has been messing with my flowers and the deer salt lick, fooling me into thinking we'd had deer visits?

I think this little bastard might just be toying with my emotions. And you all know how much I really, really want to see deer in our backyard! I mean, they are the "woodland dolphin," after all (as some awesome people already know).

I can't tell in the pictures what he's eating, maybe, hopefully he's just been burying peanuts in the soil? And not messing with the salt lick/getting me all excited that there are actually deer around, I just haven't seen them yet?

Who knows, all I know is I'm not very happy with this little dude. He's definitely not as cool as the drunk squirrel, remember him?

Because, dang it, I want to see deer, not dumb squirrels, eating out of the salt lick planter!
