So. This is what our dining room looks like. Or, looked like a month ago when I took these photos. But it's still the same, basically an empty room where random things go to live. AKA the room where I take all my Work From Home outfit pictures and where we store our booze.
Remember that one time when I Photoshopped what our dining room could look like?
Yeah, that's never gonna happen when we live in a rental. I just wanted to see the pretty picture again!
Nope, the dining room is going to stay as is for now, because we don't want to get a table until we own a house, and know what size will fit the room.
And technically, this post isn't even really about our dining room anyway. Lets look a little closer.
And even closer.
See that huge 20" x 30" canvas wrap randomly put on top of a cabinet in the corner? Yeah, hence the title of this post, where the heck do you hang something like this?
I mean, it's pretty and everything. It's one of my top 10 favorite photos from our wedding day. And it was free, since I won it in a giveaway ages ago. But I have absolutely no clue where to hang it!
I think the parts I'm struggling with are that 1) it's pretty big, and 2) it's pretty big and of us. We're totally not those people that have photos of themselves everywhere. Not at all. In fact, the only photos of us anywhere in our house are tiny ones in the wedding shadow boxes I made. And I know, I have photos of myself all over this blog, but they're on my computer, not staring me in the face all day long, you know?
So I'm asking all of you guys, my blog friends. Do you have a large print or canvas wrap of yourselves in your home? Where do you hang something like this? Maybe in a stairwell or something, so I don't have to be all....in my own face all the time? Am I weird that it weirds me out to have giant photos of myself up on our wall?

That's a gorgeous photo! We don't have any giant photos of ourselves hung (mostly just because we don't own any...I totally don't have a problem with staring at us all day, haha) but we do have some wedding photos hung in our stairwell, and in the past we've hung a few in the living room and our bedroom. I personally think that it would work wherever you are comfortable hanging it, but I don't think there's anything strange about having photos of yourself hung up in your house!
I don't have anything that size, but we do have photos of ourselves all over the house. No really, our dining room alone houses 7. We have another in the living room. It's probably out of control, but we don't have kids yet and I like to see things on the wall, especially things that remind me of fun times (like weddings!). If you haven't ever had photos of yourself up on the wall, try it out and see if you like it after a week or two. Ours really just blend in for us now (but we do have a lot of other art on our walls).
That's a beautiful canvas wrap! We had one that was included in our wedding package, and ended up purchasing a huge one from our engagement (but it's more of a sunset shadow pictures so you can only make out our outline). Right now we have one hanging above our tv (because in a 2 bedroom apt there isn't much wall space) and the huge one above our bed. We have a pretty good mix of pictures of us and other art on our walls.
That's lovely! I don't like big pictures of us everywhere either though, and so I would probably put something like this in a hallway or landing. Why? Because it allows guests to look at it (on their way to the bathroom, or when entering or leaving your home), but it won't be looming over you in a common room 24/7 (bedroom, living room, etc).
I just ordered our prints, and we're also getting a 20x30. We don't have a stairwell so much as a stairwall right behind the living room, so I'm hoping to put the big photo up and then surround it with family photos so it's not just GIANT US.
I love the wrap! I like seeing wedding photos in other people's homes, but I know how you feel. We had a canvas wrap in our wedding package. We went with a silhouette photo because I felt the same. We're planning to hang it in our bedroom.
I love that photo of the two of you! We don't have any huge photos of us in the house. We have one 8x10 photo from our wedding that lives on top of the bookshelf, and another 5x7 from our engagement shoot that sits on top of the DVD player. My husband would die if we had a photo of ourselves that was 20x20. I'm not sure where you should put it, but the stairwell seems like a good plan to me :)
Your canvas looks great! We have a couple big prints of our wedding hanging up -- one in our bedroom and one in the front hall. I definitely know what you mean about it being weird having too many all around, but I guess I'm enough of a wedding freak to not be bothered by a couple here and there. I also have small pictures of us with family members, our kitties, etc., to balance things out.
I love that photo. I agree that a stairwell or hallway would be great. If you want fewer people to see it, maybe the bedroom?
This picture is stunning. Maybe put it in the hallway or living room because it is so big and seeing your design for your "dream kitchen/dining" it looks a little out of place (if you go for the yellow/grey/white colours.
I have a canvas and I hung it in our dining room but I know what you mean, it's difficult to find somewhere to put it! I never have photos that large.
Living room? Behind a couch? That's where I've seen people put canvas wraps.
You have to take a license test?!? I just went into the DMV and they switched it for me (after a sweet little fee of $100 that is....)
We have a similar one made from one of our engagement photos, and it's just propped up on the top of a bookcase. I like it up there. We also don't have a stairwell or a hallway at all in our condo though. :)
We actually have 2 in our house....both part of our wedding photography package. One is hanging in our bedroom (it's actually only of our running legs) and the other of our actual faces is hanging in our baby's nursery. I don't think I'd feel comfortable with them hanging anywhere else. I'd feel like it was vain or something. I definitely think a hallway or stairwell would be an ok place to hang your picture though. Gorgeous by the way.
It's so pretty, I'd hang it up in the living room as a central focus so everyone can see :)
You're not weird at all! We are getting a canvas done of one of our e-pics (a bit smaller than that, but still a big old picture of us) and I have no idea where I would feel comfortable putting it. I like the hallway or stairwell idea though. Or in the master bedroom or something.
That's such a fantastic canvas! I don't have many pictures of myself around either, so I don't have much advice! Maybe the stairwell, like some others said? or a living room? Good luck!
Ooh, it's so pretty! I would definitely hang that up in my house (we just hung ours up, haha, but granted, it's not of our faces!). I think yours is really beautiful and because you're kissing, it's not like it's all "THIS IS US" right up in everyone's faces. You could get away with hanging that virtually anywhere, to be honest. :)
