Hey y'all! Hope you're having a great Friday so far, and are looking forward to the weekend.
I've been pretty busy this week, so didn't have a post planned for today, but I thought I'd do a quick fly by with a little brain dump/update. Sorry in advance if this is super random, it's just some things I wanted to share, that don't really make up individual posts by themselves.
- I'm super excited to be going to the NC State Fair this weekend! We're going to meet up with this lovely lady and her husband there. I haven't been to a fair since high school, and am really looking forward to people watching, sampling some fair food, and checking out the animal exhibits. They even have pot bellied pigs that race for cheesy poofs! I'm sure I'll have some fun pics to share next week.
- Speaking of next week, and high school, I'm also ridiculously excited to be starting tennis lessons next week! I was really inspired by Amy's post about getting in shape and finding something you love to do for exercise. Jillian Michaels just doesn't do it for me, but I'm loving my Pure Barre classes (since the focus in them reminds me of my years of ballet lessons back in the day), and now I'm going to add in tennis twice a week. I used to actually be pretty good in high school (made varsity doubles my sophomore year), but I've forgotten just about everything. I think it will be fun though, and fun exercise is the best kind.
Also for fun, here's my tennis team picture from my freshman year in high school. Ugh, braces! And I am so glad that wearing tall scrunched socks with sandals isn't in style anymore! Everyone in my school used to wear those for a good year and a half.
- Speaking of exercise, I'm trying to make a lifestyle change. I've only been at it a month now, but I'm trying to eat better and be more active, and not just for a few months to lose weight before a wedding. I'm trying to find a long term balance, but it's not easy. So I just yesterday ordered a Fitbit, to help me gather more data (you all know I love charts and being organized!). I'm excited to start using it, because it comes highly recommended by several bloggers I know personally. I was especially inspired by Cathy's posts on it, found here.
- Finally, remember this post from earlier this summer, about how I planted flowers and a deer salt lick in my backyard, because I love deer, and wanted to see some? I FINALLY saw deer in our yard last night!!! I was way too excited, grabbed my camera, which of course was on the wrong setting, and then my cat came out and scared them away. But I am so happy now! I still don't know what's up with my obsession with deer, but I just think they're so adorable. This weekend I'm totally going to plant a second deer salt lick, since my flowers are long dead. Hopefully the cuties will be back again!
Anyway, that's my little Friday brain dump. As usual, my blogging friends have inspired me in so many ways, and I hope you all have fantastic weekends!
Happy Friday!

I'm glad you're enjoying the fitness classes, and the Fitbit sounds awesome! I'm definitely going to check it out. I was doing great staying on track with my morning workout classes, but I've had a cold all week, which has thrown a wrench into my plans. I'm hoping to be back at it by Monday. Have a great weekend, and enjoy the fair!
I didn't know you were a tennis player! I was, too! I played JV/Varsity doubles my sophomore and junior year. Good for you for getting back into it!
Glad you finally saw that deer! :)
Woo! Your wanting to get fit is my mentality right. If I focus on working out for health's sake versus obsessing over looking good for wedding photos, I hope I'll stick to it more (so far it's working!) I also love how bloggers influence one another another. Part of the reason I started running was bc of Jess From Heart on Homestead. Yay for positive peer pressure ;)
Good for you to making a renewed commitment to your health and fitness- I have been doing the same, but have been keeping it under wraps because I've never been very successful with sticking to a diet/fitness plan in the past, even for my wedding! It's nice to know that there are others out there making a change. We can support one another :) have fun at the fair!
ooh a state fair that sounds fun! tennis is such a great idea for exercise--i always think of the gym or running outside when i think of exercise (both things which i'm not that into), so thanks for opening my mind! and can't wait to hear how the fitbit works out for you.
Fair food is the best! Have fun! And glad you finally got your deer! :)
I love the retro pic :) Have a great weekend!
I want a FitBit too, but the last time I checked it wasn't approved in Canada yet.
My parents get deer in their yard all the time, and my mum and dad physically chase them out, because they eat all the plants! Even deer netting won't keep them out.
hope you have a great weekend! i'm hoping to start an exercise routine, too :)
We all wore tall socks with sandals too! So funny!! How does that become a trend?
have a blast this weekend... and way to go with the tennis lessons!!! :) I wish I could play with the Mr., but he's just way too good for me to even scrimmage with.
rycrafty,
not sure where you live in Canada, (I'm in Vancouver,) but if you're near the border, you could look into getting a P.O. Box in the U.S. - we did this to buy a bunch of baby and snowboard gear, (I know, two opposite ends of the spectrum, ;-) and I`ve just picked up the fitbit from there as well. We go over every once in a while, pick, up the packages, declare everything and it`s only a few dollars in fees... much cheaper than tax, regular postal customs, etc. Just a suggestion!
Such a cute picture! And I am excited to hear about your experiences with the Fitbit - I just ordered and picked up one, (see my response to rycrafty below,) and while I likely will be waiting a little while to use it as a weight loss tool, (till this pregnancy is over,) I`m keen to start tracking the sleep data already... especially with the insomnia i`m experiencing lately. Looking forward to hearing more!
Hey Morgan! Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog. I really appreciate it girl. Good for you for making these changes. Tennis is a great way to stay in shape. You're using your entire body and have fun at the state fair. I love pot bellied pigs! Love the "brain dump" inspiration. Have a great weekend and I look forward to reading your future posts.
