It's finally here! "Second summer" aka, it's cool enough out to actually enjoy being outside again!
We had a huge temperature drop this weekend, it went from mid 80s to mid 60s overnight. Almost like the weather knew it was October. And the humidity seems to be completely gone :)
On Saturday my husband had to do some work, so I watched hours and hours of HGTV, and then worked on some Halloween projects. But Sunday we made the best of the weather, and went for a hike, after a quick trip to Costco.
We've only had the chance to check out a few local trails, since it's been too hot and humid for comfortable hiking, but I'm so glad we finally went to Umstead State Park. It's only about 10 miles from our house, and it was nice that there's no entrance fee (most state parks in California charged at least $5). We got to go on a lovely little hike, and even though we didn't see any animals, it was still great to get out and enjoy the crisp autumn air.
Now I just can't wait for the leaves to start turning colors. Our weekend trip out here last November was the only time I've ever experienced the east coast fall colors, and everyone kept saying how it wasn't a very colorful year.
I also can't wait to revive my Work From Home outfit series, now that it's time to break out all of my fall clothes. Boots, scarves and tights, here I come--well, once I reorganize all of the clothes in my closet! I'm back to needing motivation to look nice again; since I've been taking some Pure Barre classes in the evenings, I've slipped back into being lazy with getting dressed in just workout T-shirts and pants.
Has fall (or Second Summer) finally arrived where you live? Did you work on any Halloween crafts or decorations this weekend?

Fall is going to be GORGEOUS in North Carolina!
I love Umstead Park. It's great in the summer too because many of the trails are shaded so it's cooler to walk them as well. Fall is so great in NC!
I love "second summer" and am hoping it's not completely over, since our weather this weekend was rainy and in the low 50s. I did put out Halloween decorations, though, and am excited for the fall holidays coming up!
Beautiful photos! Glad you're finally getting out to enjoy the weather. I can't wait to see your fall wardrobe :)
That is one of the things I miss most about the east coast, the changing of seasons and the leaves in the fall (except when I was old enough to have to rake the leaves). Enjoy the fall colors!
ahh, these lovely, sunny raleigh photos make me want to visit so very much!
aside from today's rainy day, the sf indian summer has been perfection. 80 degree heat, no wind and an excuse to eat a few more ice cream cones and dine alfresco. :)

Your hike looks awesome! I'm still waiting for fall here, BUT the temps have finally fallen into the upper 80's low 90s, so it almost feels like fall when compared to the 100+ we had before.
Ooh second summer, I'm still waiting on the first :) I've always wanted to try the Barre program, hope it's more fun than getting yelled at by Jillian Michaels!
yay autumn! i can't wait for the leaves to start changing.
