Like just about everyone these days, I'm in love with Pinterest. And it's even more fun now that I've actually started working on more than just one of the projects that I've pinned!
This weekend I finished a couple of Halloween decorations projects, the first of which was a wreath for our front door made out of Halloween candy.
I didn't follow the instructions on how to make this at all (sorry Martha, but your way just sounded too hard, with tying all of those pieces of candy to a metal ring with string!). Instead, I opted to use my quick and easy glue gun, and a foam wreath.
I marked some approximate lines on the foam wreath with a Sharpie, as a general guideline of where each color of candy would go, and then I went to town with the gluing. While watching a House Hunters marathon on HGTV, which is my new Sunday tradition.
I just used cheap mints from the party supply store, since at $3 a bag, they were much less expensive than the fancy candy Martha used, and it comes in all colors of the rainbow.
I glued on a double layer of grosgrain and satin ribbon, tied it in a knot, and the wreath was ready to hang!
Are you beginning to put up your Halloween decorations yet? And have you recreated anything you've pinned on Pinterest? I just wish we had a bigger front porch, so I would have room for making even more Halloween decorations that I've pinned!

Totally love this! I've put out a few decorations here at home, though we unfortunately don't yet have an outdoor porch to decorate. I'm looking forward to getting a couple pumpkins for carving this coming weekend!
I love that wreath!
so cute! and way to find a shortcut!
Love! I wish we could hang wreaths on our doors that wouldn't get stolen/smashed/otherwise demolished by drunk people from the bar across the street. That's the price you pay to live in SF, I suppose! Your wreath is adorable, and it's great that you found a shortcut. A lot of times when I read Martha's tutorials that instruct you to sew, hang hooks, etc., I think to myself, "why not just use a glue gun, tic-tac or double-sided tape?" Lady has way too much time on her hands ;)
It makes your front door look so festive! I've pinned a ton of projects I want to do. I'm in the middle of one right now, but the halloween ones make me want to hold off on that and get up some decorations. Now I really want to d oa wreath, yours looks awesome!
Cute! Im trying to convince sak to let me put up a fall wreath. He thinks wreaths are only for christmas! :(
that is super cute! I never would have thought to use candy. Love it!
I like yours way better than Martha's. It's a bit more Halloween-ish!
Very cute! We don't really have a porch, but I've given my husband the heads up that I'll be decorating for the seasons when we do.
That's so cute!
It looks great, Morgan! I love to pin decor things and have followed one inspiration picture so far in decorating for fall :) I'll have to try and get ahead for Christmas!
Gorgeous! great job!!
My blog post tomorrow is on a couple of Halloween decorations I made this weekend, no wreths though. I pinned a few Christmas wreaths, and I can't wait to start making them!

Wow, I really like your door in the first place but the set up you've got is SUPER cute. I see you're getting in the festive Halloween spirit!
You did a beautiful job! This looks just as fantastic as Martha's creation! I live in a condo so I can't have anything like this on my door due to fire safety reasons. But I am definitely going to add a few fun decoration pieces to the inside!
Very cute! I love halloween! I wish I had time to do some of these fun projects!
eat your heart out, martha! I adore your candy wreath so much more...and glue guns are the best thing ever ;)
happy weekend, love!
Hello!!
I know this is going to be really awful, but I am a tad bit desperate!
I found your blog on WeddingBee. I started following you because of all your fun DIY. (I LOVE DIY and am going to try my best to incorporate as many in my wedding as possible.)
Anyways, I'm in nursing school and broke. That doesn't really mesh well with being a Bride. My fiance is paying for our wedding and, boy, are weddings expensive! We're doing a lot of DIY stuff (because I am the creative type and love it!), but we could use some extra help. So, I'm trying to rally VOTES at this link: http://getmarried.com/americas-top-bride/vote/84/
I'm obviously desperate, but I'd love to be able to have our simple, dream wedding without breaking my hard-working fiance's bank.
Otherwise, I hope you have a wonderful weekend and that you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather. Looking forward to more of your projects :)
Blessings!!!
