And at the same time, I also made kind of a fun fashion discovery!
See this cute ruffled red scarf?
Does it look familiar at all? How about now?
Yep, that's right, I discovered that I can turn this dress into a scarf!
The dress just happened to be lying over the arm of my chaise lounge bench in such a way that when I glanced down at it, I realized it sort of looked like a scarf from that angle. So I grabbed it and played around for a minute, when I realized I could just pull it through the arm holes and it magically turned into a scarf!
Like so:
Black Top: Target, Jean Pencil Skirt: Express, Brown Belt: Target, Dress-Turned-Scarf: Target, Brown Boots: Reneeze, Earrings and Bracelets: Target and H&M
The blue flowers on the dress even work well with my Anthropologie coat!
So that was my fun little discovery last week. I'm excited to try it out with a couple of more dresses too, since how great is it to find a use for my sundresses before next spring? I've opened up a whole world of new scarf possibilities that are already in my closet!
Have you ever made a surprising fashion discovery, or found a new way to wear something that was already in your wardrobe?

I love this idea! It looks great!
It's cute! But when you get where you're going, do you take the scarf/dress off?
I love this!! How creative & cute!
Good question Debbie! Because I suppose it might be a little harder to take off than a regular scarf (more like an infinity scarf). But usually when I wear scarves, I wear them as part of my outfit, and leave them on all day. Of course, where I spend most of my days, in my home office in our basement, it is cold, so I usually need the extra warmth!
You're basically a genius. Now I have to go to my closet and see what I can turn into a scarf!
Wow, it looks amazing! I love the jean pencil skirt, too. I have one that I've absolutely worn to death this year.
Wow, what a great idea. I never would have thought about using a dress as a scarf!
How did you come across this idea? Pretty fab way to travel light too!
That's a good thing too because I bet taking your scarf/dress off at the grocery store would stir up some weird looks! :-P
So smart! I'm laughing at the thought of you taking your "scarf" off and someone wondering who got undressed!
I didn't even know that you could turn a dress into a scarf! Dang, girl. Talk about resourceful! I'm impressed.

I came across it by randomly looking down at my dress thrown sloppily across the bench in my closet, and thinking, "hmm, that dress almost looks like a scarf from this angle." A quick minute of experimentation, and I discovered it actually worked! :)
How cute! You're so clever :)

Haha! Wow that is so cute/awesome! I'm gonna see if I can do this with any of my dresses.
This is brilliant. I am so going to see what I can turn into a scarf, though I don't think I have any super floaty dresses like that.
I love this idea...so simple but yet looks so chic!
Morgan this is awesome! I love how you turned the dress into a scarf and also...have you lost weight? You look fantastic!

Morgan! I love the way you think! And then last week when I went spring dress shopping (yes, it's spring here!) I kept thinking of your post, wondering if my new duds could pull off double duty! Still haven't tried, but I'm inspired!
