And a trailer hitch installed on my husband's car. Or else a truck.
Getting building supplies home from Lowes is NOT easy without something, that's for sure! Hence, tying plywood to my little Civic, with an 8 foot 4x4 out the sunroof, driving the two miles home very slowly, while my husband followed me in his own fully loaded car.
Yep, we know how to have fun on a Wednesday night! Getting stuff to make an outdoor cat door and ramp, wood to cover the gross pink pantry carpet, and supplies for various other projects to work on this weekend!
But seriously, how do you get stuff home without tying it to the car? I don't think I want to rent the hardware store truck every time!
When I used to have to move bigger items, I would call on a friend with a truck. Now I have a small SUV and my husband has a truck, so we were the ones called on when my parents purchased new toilets at Home Depot. I have a feeling that as my parents make more updates and we get into a house that truck will come in handy!
Ooh, I was excited for a minute, but I just checked, and no, we don't have Zipcar around here yet. Too bad, because I've heard really good things about their service!
lol oh wow! I have a suv (rav4) so that makes moving stuff a lot easier. I've been able to fit 10 ft long pipe and a futon in there... i feel like *most* stuff I could ever want to bring home I could fit in there.
We definitely don't have a truck, and it makes big purchases a challenge. We've never bought wood, but getting our 47" flat screen TV home from Costco was quite the challenge in my husband's Civic :)
We drive a tiny Jetta, so I know exactly how you feel! Luckily, we've been able to manage so far for the weddings we've coordinated and the things we've needed to transport, but I definitely have an SUV on my wishlist for the future. Friends with larger vehicles have certainly come to our rescue in the past!
I have a deep love for shoes, anything with garlic on it, and all things DIY. Just a West Coast 30-something adjusting to life in the South with my husband and 3 kitties. To pay the bills I'm a marketing professional, but my true love is crafting and working on decor projects. And now that we are homeowners, I love taking on bigger renovation projects side-by-side with my husband, as we strive to make our new house a home.

Do you have Zipcar where you are? We signed up for the service just so we could rent their trucks. It's really handy.

OH! Morgan! How funny! We have a truck and a car and I can't tell you how many times the truck comes in handy. Looks like an interesting trip! lol
Can't wait to see your weekend projects!

LOL, my hubs has a truck and a trailer and people ask to borrow it all the time! Hauling that stuff is hard without either.
