While sitting at my desk yesterday, I spotted a beautiful juvenile buck out my office window. As he walked around the side of the house, I grabbed my camera and had the perfect vantage point out our bonus room windows, above our garage.
Look at the cute little horns!
I've never seen this many male deer together before. The family that has been coming by a couple of times a week usually only has two bucks. I wonder if these are the same ones, or a whole different group. Either way, I appreciate them trimming our weeds, at least until we get around to landscaping our backyard!
Except, that is, when they venture toward my hosta I have planted near our fire pit. Those are off limits, but the deer scurried off toward the greenway behind our property when I went outside to shoo them away from my plants.
Wait, why was I just longing for fall earlier this week? I need to soak up all of this greenery while I can! Although I bet our new yard is going to be beautiful when all of these trees start turning fall colors.
I've probably said it before, but our backyard, and the wildlife that walks through it, is truly one of my favorite things about our house. And one of my favorite parts of living in North Carolina!
Hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend! Is anyone planning to get out of town this weekend? I'm definitely planning to soak up some more nature over the long weekend. And I'll be back next week with a recap of my primal/paleo healthy eating efforts, with some recipe reviews, since by then I'll have made it thorugh two weeks going low-carb.

Beautiful nature pics! My grandparents had a large yard in the woods and ended up having to put chicken wire around their plants to keep the deer away. I wonder if there is a more elegant solution? Sadly, I am going to have to work this weekend - I am super-swamped and have been working late nights. Even my blog has suffered this week! It will be worth it, though, since I'm off to Tahoe the weekend after Labor Day :)
OH MY GOSH!! What cuties!!
I love the little baby antlers that deer have... I know I have felt baby antlers before, I don't know why (I can only assume it was one that fell off or was at a zoo or something as a kid... but I don't remember HOW) and they have this great fuzz on them and are so soft- at least while they're growing. Great pics!
Look at those babies! So fun that they come into your yard.
GAH! I love deer, too! What sweet boys!
Tell them No, No from me for hosta-eating, too!
They're like a little teenage deer gang! haha Deer are so sweet, I'm really jealous that you get to watch them playing right out in your yard!
