....is in our new Mayan-style, family-sized hammock!
I hung it this weekend while waiting to start painting the cabinet doors for our fireplace facade (which, after a break from working on it, is now thisclose to being completely done). I used our new Little Giant ladder to reach to embed the hooks in the trees. We got the ladder so we could finally reach the roof to clean some branches off of it. It is a bit heavier than our old rickety 6 foot ladder, but it's one of those cool ones that extend up to 22 feet and can be flipped into like 30 different configurations. I hadn't had a chance to play with it until this weekend, but it was great on uneven ground, and I set it up at an angle so I could get closer to the tree.
I had to drill pilot holes and use a crowbar to help me screw the hooks into the trees. These things were in there deep!
And as a happy accident, I ended up mounting the hooks at the exact right height to be as far as I can reach on tiptoe to slip the ends of the hammock in place.
The view from the hammock is pretty nice! I can't wait to spend some time out there reading.
The kitties were very interested in what I was doing. I guess it was entertaining to see their owner hanging from the trees for the first time. I was surrounded by them on three sides!
Yep, I do think this just might be my new favorite spot in our backyard. Our fire pit terrace we built has been demoted to second place!
Does anyone else have a hammock? Or get any backyard relaxing in over the weekend?

Oh my gosh this looks so cozy and amazing! I am completely and utterly jealous of your huge forest of a yard!
That looks so relaxing! Wish we had room in our backyard — or trees — to put up a hammock!
