But before too much time slips away, I wanted to share some of the beautiful scenery from Albuquerque. My husband's parents just moved there in late spring, and when we found out that our good friends from Washington State were going to be there visiting their family, we decided it was the perfect excuse to make our first trip out. And it was really a gorgeous place; so much more scenic than I was imagining the desert to be!
First, a hike in the foothills on a cloudy evening, near my in-law's new house:
And the gorgeous views and sunsets from their yard:
At the top of this ridge line you can see the stone Kiwanis Cabin, which we hiked out to.
Up at the top of the tramway.
After checking out the views at the top, we took about a 3 mile hike out and back to the Kiwanis Cabin, along a tree lined trail with beautiful viewpoints along the way.
At the Kiwanis Cabin.
We ate lunch at the restaurant at the top of the peak, and then it was time to head back down.
Another fun part of our trip was an afternoon spent in Santa Fe, which was about an hour drive away. There were lots of pretty churches and tons of shopping in downtown.
We ended our trip with another hike in the foothills, and this time it was sunny and hot.
My husband, his father and a friend climbed these huge rocks, while my friend Heather and I waited in the shade.
It was a short five day trip, but it was a blast to get to see friends we haven't seen in almost two years, as well as check out my in-law's new house. We're looking forward to going back, since there is so much to see and do, and so many more places to hike in the Albuquerque area.
Anyone else been doing a lot of traveling lately?
