Friday Fly By

Happy Friday blog friends!

I hope you guys all have a wonderful weekend planned. Mine will be extra busy, since we will be celebrating my husband's birthday, which was earlier this week.

Making a friend in Key Largo. I still need to recap our Florida trip, ugh!

We will be plugging away at the bathroom this weekend, still working on touching up the walls and painting the wainscoting and trim. And hopefully picking out a paint color for the walls. I swear, it's driving me insane! Green is such a hard color to choose, especially when I have it in my mind what I want, but when I paint the sample on the wall, it doesn't look right. And the room is especially hard with all of the natural light in the day and the incandescent lighting at night.

I can't believe this week is over already! Between starting tennis lessons, working around the house and several trips to Lowes, finalizing the decor proposal for an upcoming charity event (basically feels like the pressure of planning a wedding!), and, you know, actual work, this week has gone by in a flash. And we've got a busy weekend planned too, I'm running jogging a 5k tomorrow, my husband has got a soccer game, and we'll be making some really good progress with our bathroom renovation.

With everything going on, I still haven't gotten around to narrowing down all of the photos from our whirlwind Florida trip last week, but I couldn't resist sharing what I think is going to be my favorite of the trip!

I got to hold the softest little baby alligator at the park where they film Animal Planet's Gator Boys! Definitely one of the highlights of the trip, although I kind of wish we hadn't done a 15 mile bike ride through the Everglades in 90 degree weather right before, so my hair and makeup would have been cuter for the photo opp. Oh well, I'm sure the baby gator didn't mind my disheveled look. :)

Friday Fly By

Hey y'all! Hope you're having a great Friday so far, and are looking forward to the weekend.

I've been pretty busy this week, so didn't have a post planned for today, but I thought I'd do a quick fly by with a little brain dump/update. Sorry in advance if this is super random, it's just some things I wanted to share, that don't really make up individual posts by themselves.

- I'm super excited to be going to the NC State Fair this weekend! We're going to meet up with this lovely lady and her husband there. I haven't been to a fair since high school, and am really looking forward to people watching, sampling some fair food, and checking out the animal exhibits. They even have pot bellied pigs that race for cheesy poofs! I'm sure I'll have some fun pics to share next week.

- Speaking of next week, and high school, I'm also ridiculously excited to be starting tennis lessons next week! I was really inspired by Amy's post about getting in shape and finding something you love to do for exercise. Jillian Michaels just doesn't do it for me, but I'm loving my Pure Barre classes (since the focus in them reminds me of my years of ballet lessons back in the day), and now I'm going to add in tennis twice a week. I used to actually be pretty good in high school (made varsity doubles my sophomore year), but I've forgotten just about everything. I think it will be fun though, and fun exercise is the best kind.

Also for fun, here's my tennis team picture from my freshman year in high school. Ugh, braces! And I am so glad that wearing tall scrunched socks with sandals isn't in style anymore! Everyone in my school used to wear those for a good year and a half.

- Speaking of exercise, I'm trying to make a lifestyle change. I've only been at it a month now, but I'm trying to eat better and be more active, and not just for a few months to lose weight before a wedding. I'm trying to find a long term balance, but it's not easy. So I just yesterday ordered a Fitbit, to help me gather more data (you all know I love charts and being organized!). I'm excited to start using it, because it comes highly recommended by several bloggers I know personally. I was especially inspired by Cathy's posts on it, found here.

- Finally, remember this post from earlier this summer, about how I planted flowers and a deer salt lick in my backyard, because I love deer, and wanted to see some? I FINALLY saw deer in our yard last night!!! I was way too excited, grabbed my camera, which of course was on the wrong setting, and then my cat came out and scared them away. But I am so happy now! I still don't know what's up with my obsession with deer, but I just think they're so adorable. This weekend I'm totally going to plant a second deer salt lick, since my flowers are long dead. Hopefully the cuties will be back again!

Anyway, that's my little Friday brain dump. As usual, my blogging friends have inspired me in so many ways, and I hope you all have fantastic weekends!

Happiness Is: Friday!

Really, that's all it's taking to make me happy this week, just the fact that it's finally Friday!

For some reason this week has seemed really long, probably because last week was a short week. I'm looking forward to happy hour tonight with some lovely bees, and a productive weekend doing exciting things like cleaning and doing laundry. And maybe I can convince my husband to venture out to get new cell phones, our contract was up for renewal last month and I'm dying for a new phone, since my G1 is getting sloooowwww!

After these crazy past 2 weeks, it being Friday is about all that it takes to make me happy!

Luckily things are slowing down a little at work, so I might have time to stop back by and share a recipe later today. The hubs actually cooked something! :)
