I'm one of those people who takes a LOT of pictures. My camera lives in my purse, and I'm never without my back up phone camera too. I don't always spend much time looking back at my photos after I upload them to my Picasa site, but this week I was bored (and antsy for our pro pics in another 3 weeks) and looked through some of my old albums.
And I found this gem. Doesn't this just look like pure peace?

This was taken on our first back country backpacking trip in the High Sierras, at about 11,000 feet above sea level. I'd woken up early and gone down to the lake to wash my face and brush my teeth, and just had to go back to our tent to grab the camera to take this shot. This was the only time we saw any of the lakes this peaceful; most of the time there was too much of a breeze. After taking the shot I remember just sitting there, not a person other than the hubs around for miles, with only the sound of birds chirping, and thinking that this difficult hike, carrying 40 pounds of gear on my back and nearly giving up several times had all been worth it....

That is a gorgeous shot! Sounds so peaceful too. I hope Mr. G and I can take a mountain vacation rather than a hot, beach vacation next!
