Well, I was going to have a great post for today about what a great and productive weekend we had, along with some nice photos and info on a good source to find new places to hike in the Bay Area. But yeah, none of that really happened.
Saturday we took it easy, and had planned on getting a lot of things done Sunday, like cleaning our garage, unpacking the rest of our wedding registry items and throwing away our old kitchen items. And going for a hike. But TIGFriday’s killed that plan.
Saturday night we went out to dinner at TGIFriday’s, and the food tasted really good. But after dinner we went to see Inception (awesome movie, as everyone has said), and about half way through I started feeling nauseous. I somehow made it through the movie, and went to bed when we got home, but couldn’t sleep, and was miserable until about 4 in the morning, when I had to go make myself throw up, in an attempt to feel better. I finally got some fitful sleep after that, but had a horrible stomach ache all of yesterday, ruining my productive plans for the weekend.
And to make matters worse, remember how I thought we might have a mouse in the house? I never ended up finding the mouse, and there wasn’t hard evidence there was one around, but I was still suspicious all last week. So yeah, last night at about 3:30am, the hubs was jolted awake by a rustling sound in our bedroom. I bet you can tell where this is going, but the mouse was in our bedroom, trying to get to something in our overflowing garbage can.
So we had a fun hour of trying to clean up the tissues around the garbage can without getting attacked by the (actually cute and harmlessly cowering) mouse in the corner, trying to grab our cats and put them next to the mouse so they'd take care of it (they're still useless, didn't realize we were trying to make them look at a mouse, and just ran away), and then I was finally able to trap it in a shoe box and set it free in our front yard. Lots of fun in the middle of the night when you have to get up early for work a few hours later. So needless to say, I’m pretty tired today, after two nights of interrupted sleep!
Yup, so that was my weekend. Kind of a waste, except for seeing Inception.
And since this is a pretty random post, I’ll leave you with a look at our wedding registry items that we were going to unpack. These were actually all things that we didn’t receive that I just had to have, so we bought them for ourselves!
We only got 2/3rds of the everyday Pfaltzgraff dishes we wanted, so we bought the final 4 place settings, as well as more serving bowls and accessories. We'd already received two of each of the large and small platters, and one of the serving bowls.
And because I really seem to like infomercial products, I wanted the Vidalia Chop Wizard. We'd already gotten the Slap Chop off our registry, otherwise I would have bought that myself too!
We also got some new bamboo serving utensils and new measuring cups. I'm really looking forward to getting rid of all our old stuff, and filling our cabinets with our new stuff! I'm convinced that having cute kitchen accessories actually makes cooking more fun.
Did you buy items for yourself off your registry after your wedding?

Boo, for stomach pains! But other than that, sounds like a relaxing weekend :)
Ick, sorry you were sick. :(
Oh man, sounds like you had a rough weekend. I had one of those nights when we had a cockroach in the house, I just could not sleep and we spent all night looking for it just to have to go to work the next day. Horrible stuff.
You got some cool goodies though!
Sorry you got sick :( We saw Inception this weekend too - it was AMAZING and I want to see it again. I fully intend to buy most of the stuff off our registry if we don't get it, especially the KitchenAid Mixer and LeCrueset cast-iron pot!
Ooo cute plate set! What does the chop wizard do...? It looks like a walkie talkie or something :-P
