This past weekend we had the opportunity for a quick getaway. We stayed in the coolest cabin I’ve ever seen, about an hour from where we live, just south of Santa Cruz.
I found the cabin online a few months ago, and it’s available for rent through airbnb.com. It actually is the highest ranked property on the website, and I can definitely see why. Only about 10 minutes from the beach, overlooking a redwood grove (and you all know how much I love redwoods!), neat artistic touches and a crazy-awesome roof; it’s a little hippy paradise!
But enough writing, let me show you how cool this place was. It's called the Mushroom Dome Cabin for a reason!
The wrap around deck was great for sitting outside with a drink and playing cribbage while looking at the redwoods.
I loved the detailed carvings on the front door.
The ceiling from the inside was so cool. There are 5 different sizes of triangles, forming both pentagons and hexagons. Being an engineer, the hubs was impressed with the construction.
The downstairs had a little kitchen area, seating area, with fold out table, and bathroom with shower.
Upstairs, the loft was just big enough for the bed, dresser and TV, with a great view of the trees out the windows.
When cats fly....
Neat pentagon artwork on the floor under a rug.
The cabin's surroundings were awesome too, for example, you could take either the path, or the slide down to the cabin.
And the property owners had cute goats to look at (and even a silly dog that did nothing but stare at the goats the entire time we were unloading our car. I really wanted to get a picture of him, so I could post it with the caption "The Dog Who Stares at Goats," but he disappeared when we finished unloading, before I could get out my camera.).
Plus they had an insane amount of hummingbirds. They said they go though 2 quarts of hummingbird nectar each day!
On top of just marveling at what a cool place we were staying, we also went to the beach (in October!) and not only was it beautiful, but we also encountered some really odd people, as well as some rude ones. But I'll save that for my next post!
Have you ever rented a place from Airbnb? They look like they have tons of really unique, well priced places to stay.

Looks like so much fun, and such beautiful surroundings! I plan to go to so many places after the wedding, but at the top of our list now is San Diego. We usually go once or twice per year but didn't make it down at all this year.
Wow, what a cute place! So unique, and I love the flying cats :) I need to check out that website next time we want to go away.
Wow that looks fab; I love the cabin and the slide is THE best entrance ever!
