This past weekend I gave my kitties some of the special catnip that I'd asked for for Christmas, and they were being silly, so of course I broke out my camera.
But seriously, I don't know how all you other bloggers come up with such adorable photos of your pets!
Maybe it's because most of you have dogs, and they are better at being still? Or maybe it's the poor lighting in our TV room, or my old camera. Or could it be the catnip making them not sit still....?
But whatever the reason, I think I snapped at least 50 photos, and most just ended up looking like this:

Ghost cat, or blurry cat.
Of the 50 or so photos, I only got one of each cat that wasn't completely blurry, but of course, no cute backgrounds or anything. Nope, they were sitting at my feet or laying on a chair.
So, no real luck with photos, but I do have a short video of Hailey all hopped up on catnip, being crazy. I'd tossed an apron onto the back of a chair after cooking, and I think it smelled like my friend's cat or something (the apron was a gift from her), because Hailey sure wanted to attack it!
Do any of you pet owners have any tips on how to get good photos of your pets? Or are you all like me and take a ton of photos, just hoping a couple will turn out?
You know, I think this really just means that someone needs to get me the new camera I asked for for my birthday!

Hailey is SO pretty! My pictures of my cat are rubbish too. She always looks mad (probably because she is) and I can never catch her doing something sneaky. Don't even get me started on the rabbit, he is impossible! Your kitties are so cute :)
I have a hard time myself! I will snap the picture while Im saying my dog's name because if I say her name to look before, her head is turning when the picture actually takes and I end up with 50 blurry jpotos just like you :)
Pets are REALLY hard to take pictures of. A dSLR will help because of its better performance in low light, but really, you just have to take a ton of pictures and delete all the bad ones. Until your new camera appears, turn on lots of lights, and just keep snapping!
So cute! But yeah, I never get good photos of my mom's dog either. He always has the crazy eye thing going on and it makes him look evil, even though he's the sweetest dog ever :)
Watching that video, I was so nervous she was going to fall of the back of the chair!! Haha!
I've just learned how to properly adjust the shutter speed on my DSLR and making it higher seems to work when taking pictures of my hyper dog.
Oh man, I was laughing out loud at your video. I am such a cat person! I wish my cats responded to catnip, but they just totally ignore it. Weird.
I have the Rebel t2i and it's definitely helpful for taking cute pet pictures! Like Jessica, I just adjust the shutter speed and click away - For the most part they turn out pretty clear and I can go through and pick my favorites. Also, it's much easier to get good pictures outside - The natural light and the cleaner looking backgrounds help tremendously, although I'm not sure how that would work for your kitties!
Aww, I love them! I can't believe our little kitties will someday be that big. I've been taking lots of photos and videos of our kittens since we got them, but they never meow on camera or do what I want them to do. Still super cute, though!
The pictures of my animals (2 cats and 1 dog) are usually very blurry and I just bought a new camera! I wish I had a Canon Eos Rebel as well but alas it is too expensive!
