But just because I got out of my PJs didn't mean the outfits were that great--I couldn't seem to settle on something all that fashionable a few days this week, but when in doubt, I just accessorized, slipped on some heels and waited to be inspired by what's in my closet another day.
Tuesday:
Remember how last week I said I was still in just a T-shirt and shorts at lunchtime, but was planning to get dressed later? Well, I was already comfy in my shorts and T, so I just put on lots of jewelry and some fun patterned platform peep toes, threw my hair in pigtails so I didn't have to curl it, and called it a day instead.
T-shirt: Old Navy (and unfortunately even their petite sized T's are too long for my 5'2" height), Shorts: Old Navy, Necklace and Earrings: Forever 21, Bracelet: H&M
Floral Print Platform Heels: Steve Madden
Wednesday:
Another blah day. I felt like I dressed down so much on Tuesday, I tried to find something a little dressier the next day, but in the end I just wasn't feeling it and settled on this outfit. I think 4 inch black patent D'Orsays would have been the better choice over the low heels.
Ruffle Front Blouse: NY&Co, Plaid Capris: Tracy Evans, Buckle Detailed Heels: 6pm.com
Thursday:
Yeah, I also wasn't inspired this day either. This falls under the "really, really casual" category. More like something I'd throw on to run to the grocery store. But at least I was comfortable!
T-shirt: Victoria's Secret, Skirt: Old Navy, Flip Flops: $1 from Michaels
Friday:
After such a lackluster week, I decided to really make an effort this day and turn things around. Especially since we were going out to dinner that night. So I threw on this bright outfit again (I'd worn it to a BBQ recently as well). I think you can tell in my pictures how much happier I look compared to the rest of this week. There's just something about bright colors + a skirt + high heels that make me feel more like myself.
Ribbed Top: No idea, I've had it for several years and there's no tags, Skirt: Old Navy, Necklace: Old Navy, Hair Flowers: H&M, Heels: Nine West
Saturday: Bonus Day!
I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of this outfit I wore out for drinks with some lovely ladies whose blogs you might recognize. Now this is really what I'd call "my style." A bit dressier, with ruffles and accessories and my hair extra curly. I always feel better when I'm dressed up, and I especially love dresses (even though I also have issues with them, since you can't wear them as often as a skirt paired with multiple different tops).
Dress: Target (I swear, their clothes are getting cuter and cuter every year, and this dress was on sale for only $20!), Belt: H&M (came with another dress), Bracelet and Earrings: Target, Black Headband (hard to see in the photos): Target, Heels: Guess
So I guess I'm going to use this week as a learning week. Looking back at these outfits from early in the week, I sort of feel like there wasn't much point in even putting them on, if they weren't going to make me that happy. I might as well stay in my PJs if I'm just gonna half-ass things. But looking at the last two outfits, there is something to be taken away from acknowledging outfits that made me really happy. So now I'm going to make an effort to concentrate on, well, making more of an effort. Maybe I'll even break out some more sundresses, even if it's only for my cats to appreciate inside my house.
And to make up for a dull and blah week of working from home outfits, I thought I'd entertain you with some outtake photos.
To take all of these photos every day, I've been using my shutter remote control timer (that I also used to make our cross country timelapse videos). I just set it to take a photo every 4 seconds until I hope I have something usable for the blog; usually I let it take around 10-15 photos for me to choose from. Well, I'm no model (quite obviously), so I never know how to pose...and sometimes I end up cracking myself up when looking back at the photos to pick which to share with you. Here are just a couple examples of my more, uh, interesting poses, that I somehow in the moment think might actually look good!
Twirling in a circle --- Backwards hugging the wall?
Perhaps wishing my hair had more body? --- Kicking for Girl Power a la Spice Girls? I don't even know!
Do you ever get a kick out of looking at photographs of yourself in weird poses or making funny faces? I seem to be amassing a ridiculous number of awkward photos!

I love the dress! I can't believe it is from Target!! When I work from home I always stay in PJs until I shower in the afternoon and put on jeans. I just cant justify wearing clothes that no one will see because it really just means more laundry for me to do!
Sorry. I didn't pay attention. I was gawking at your shoes. Do you happen to be a size 8.5/9? Do you ever get tired of shoes? Want to send them down south? Or better yet, I'll come get them myself!
Just kidding. I love how a few weeks in you've mellowed out with getting so dressed up. Humidity does that to a girl.
I love that you get so dressed up to work at home! If I'm at home, I'm barefoot - I should totally wear my heels around the house more often! :) You look great in all of the photos!
I love that red dress! And all of your shoes - I tried to take photos of myself for a fashion post and ended up scrapping the idea because I looked so awkward posing for the camera. You're doing a great job, and I love this series.
That red dress looks great on you! And I love the patterned platform peeptoes.
That dress is awesome, and I love the way you punched things up with jewelry. Great idea!
Love the outfit you wore on Friday - especially the heels! I see a theme here, I'm consistently a huge fan of your shoes. The karate kick cracked me up. :)
You look so cute! I seriously can't even believe you wear heels to work at home. You are a better woman than I!
#1, Totally didn't know you were fun-sized too! (I'm also 5'2)
#2, You always have the cutest dresses! After seeing this post, I went directly to Target's website to check out dresses (P.S. I also went to H&M once after you went shopping and showed us your purchases but I walked out empty handed, haha)
Lol, you crack me up with the kicking for girl power pose! And you continue to amaze me with your motivation to dress cute while just at home! Makes me really want to try harder, should I get the chance to work from home. Also, I really really need that coral skirt from Old Navy, was it a recent purchase?
@Layla, yep the coral skirt is new: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=55402&vid=1&pid=809724&scid=809724042
They look like they don't have many sizes left online though, so you might have to check in stores.
Gosh, don't you love that Target has upped the cuteness of their clothing over the years? I love that dress; I've found a ton of other cute ones in the past too!
Hm, I totally end up doing the "pulling my hair back" pose a lot of the time...I always feel like I need to do something with my hands...
