It was there when we moved in, and we've never watered it or done anything to maintain it.
But it gives such a pretty lavender pop of color in our backyard, and every morning when I look out the window while brushing my teeth, I see tons of butterflies on it.
Which now makes complete sense! I finally took the time to look up what kind of bush it is, and found out its common name is "Butterfly Bush."
Buddleia's literally explodes into a summer landscape with masses of 4" to 10" long cone-shaped flowers from July through September. Adding to the color are clouds of butterflies these flowers attract while open. (From here)
Do you have any flowers or bushes in your yard that attract butterflies?

Beautiful! And great photos, lady! I love them. We live in a concrete jungle, so we have no backyard, front yard or bushes. My husband keeps plants indoors, but luckily they don't attract any insects ;)
These photos are beautiful! I wish I was any good with flowers. I've had some success with my pepper plants, but the only flower I have managed to keep alive is my orchid and those take like no work. I wish I had butterflies on my balcony! (My peppers don't attract anything so pretty.)
Great photos! I love butterflies and they're so nice to see when you walk outside. It's amazing how they love that type of plant so much. We have some guys who have just started showing up at the back of the yard.
What's this new comment thing? I'm intrigued. :)
Ooh, as you know, I adore butterflies, and once we have a place with a yard, I can't wait to plant a butterfly garden. These pictures are gorgeous! What a great way to start your day.
