I'm hoping to get a lot done this weekend, between trying out a Pure Barre class, helping a friend with wedding crafting, and going on a hike. Hopefully I'll be back next week with some of these projects complete!
I finally got around to sewing curtains for the master bedroom, with the fabric my husband bought me as part of my anniversary gift. Only took me 3 months, but they're still not hung because someone hasn't had time to help me hang them on the refreshed curtain rods I spray painted over Labor Day weekend.
Color matching paint for an update/fix to the wall art he also got me for our anniversary, which will hopefully soon be hanging in our master bedroom.
And testing it on the backside of the canvas wraps, just to make sure my idea will work (it's drying outside as I write this, so I'll know soon if it's a go or not).
I'm also waiting for supplies to arrive in the mail for another master bedroom project (a Pinterest-inspired creation), since all I was able to find at Michaels was the circle punches I needed.
I've had the photos saved for a while now on my computer, but haven't gotten around to actually writing a post about how we made a non-permanent kitty door in our workroom.
I found these six frames in our leftover wedding stuff boxes, and am trying to figure out what to do with them. I'm thinking they need some white paint, and maybe some graphic typography quotes for above my home office desk? I should probably decide soon, since I've been stepping over them in the middle of the floor for the past week, ever since I decided I liked this arrangement of them.
We're in the early stages of planning out a new kitty jungle gym to build. Our old one was about 7' x 6' but we demolished it before our move, since it had seen better days. We're still playing around with design ideas though, and definitely not in agreement about materials (he wants ugly PVC pipe, I want nice wood I can paint to look more like furniture). So we'll just have to wait and see!
(If you look closely, you can see my husband drew a little kitty on a jungle gym in the top left corner, with a little speech bubble that says "Why do you hate me?" Apparently this was because I was making things difficult by insisting we don't have an ugly kitty jungle gym! Also, our wish list is in the top right corner, and yes, "perches and shit" is on the list!)
This was my favorite design, a nice wood grid with ramps, scratching posts, and staggered holes in the floor to get to the top.
I also finally convinced my husband to put the glass doors on our two corner shelves in our living room. And I hate to admit it (to him, at least) that I don't really like them. I think it makes that side of the room look top heavy now.
So I'm still at a loss/kinda over it with the living room decor. We'll likely be getting new furniture once we move next year anyway, so I don't really feel like investing too much more time and effort into this room. Besides, the only things I can think of to do is to paint the black parts of my gecko aquarium white (so it's not so in-your-face dark on the wall), and maybe add something on the floor on either side of the cabinet it's on? That would probably make things less top heavy at least, but I'm not sure what I should actually put there.
Eh, maybe I'm just still over it. At least for now, with all the other in progress projects I'm working on!
Do you ever feel like you're working on a million half-finished projects at once? Anyone got any plans to tackle some of them this weekend?

Can't wait to see how your bedroom projects turn out! I think I might be working on a Pintrest inspired project this weekend too.
Awesome projects! The kitty jungle gym sounds awesome! Our kitties love their climbing tree, though ours is store-bought. The note from your husband and the one about the perches are too funny.
Wow, that kitty jungle gym is going to be ridiculously nice! I have about a billion projects I need to get to around the house . . . I should do a "before" house tour but I'm too embarrassed that we've lived here for 1.5 years and haven't even gotten around to hanging window treatments in most of the rooms. Ugh!
Hmm, wondering what your idea for the master bedroom is with those circle punches. ;)
Just a thought, maybe some real or fake plants as filler next to the gecko aquarium?
i'll take this as my inspiration to get off the videogames and back into the craft room :P lol. can't wait to see how the kitty gym develops, it sounds awesome!
I'm really thinking about diying a kitty condo too - the only problem is that we don't have as many of our tools with us here at the apt . . . I'm thinking of starting with a piece of furniture so it reads as less carpet and rope and more like integrated furniture. I'm with you about the nice wood and paint idea!
Plants! Those spaces in between the pieces of furniture definitely could use some green plants :)
The kitty door is awesome!!! These doors are so popular over here, and it's very common that another cat will make it's way inside! Our neighbors woke up one morning and a big fat cat was running around their living room, scared the crap outta them! But then it was kinda funny, because how do fat cats manage to get through in the first place?
Ah, so many projects!! I think a longer console would look perfect in the space above, but since you don't want to purchase furniture... maybe two kitty friendly house plants? Or maybe some small chairs or poufs for extra seating?
And yes, I am always working on a million projects at once ;)
so much going on! what a lucky kitty. i'll stand in your corner for the wood jungle gym--seeing what you two have created together in the past, i know it's going to be awesome (no matter what it's made out of)!
