So yeah. I've pretty much spent every waking hour this past week obsessing about houses. And the non-waking hours too, as I keep having dreams about redecorating rooms I've only seen in photos.
I have a feeling this isn't going to stop until we buy our first house. And maybe not even then!
As I mentioned earlier this week, we kicked off our home search on Tuesday. The house wasn't for us (it was a little on the small side, and basically had just trees, and no landscaping or grass in the backyard, which isn't something I look forward to putting in ourselves, given my black thumb), but we're not discouraged. We're just waiting to hear back from our realtor on when she has availability to show us some more homes, either this weekend or next.
And so you can all see what I've been dreaming about, here is a sampling of photos from the homes we're going to go view very soon!
Backyard to die for:
Huge kitchen and vaulted ceiling family room:
Although I'd like to see a more classic stone on the fireplace, instead of the somewhat dated wood look:
So much potential with a little updating, and taking down some cabinets, to have a lovely open floor plan kitchen, breakfast nook and family room:
But maybe we'd cover the brick with some built ins and hang our TV by the fire:
So many windows, so much master bathroom counter space, plus the walk in closet:
I really am a sucker for a vaulted ceiling in a bonus room, and love another pretty back deck:
Anyway, there's just a peek at what we'll hopefully get to see soon for ourselves in person! I wish I could have a camera crew following us around like on House Hunters, so I could really share our home buying experience with you, but I guess this is a start for now.
Do you have any fun plans this weekend? Was anyone else tempted to mentally redecorate any of the rooms in the photos in this post? Ah, potential. One of my favorite parts about looking at homes!
(Note that I'm purposefully not linking to the home photos in this post. They all came from our real estate company's website, but I don't want to post a link with the address, just in case we end up buying any of these homes.)

wow looks like you have a great launching pad of ideas! I LOL'd at your re-decorating impulse; I'm totally afflicted as well. The best thing I can tell you when you're looking at houses is the "Oooh, OOH!" factor usually is the best way to go. The feeling I got when I KNEW something had to be had for the wedding is the same feeling our house gave us. When you find it, you'll know and it will be amazing!
Wow, all of these look amazing! I wouldn't know what to do with so much space (but I'm sure I'd figure it out)!
These all look like such beautiful and amazing homes! I can't wait to hear how things go once you get to visit them, and I definitely hope you find your dream house!
*drool* those homes look fantastic. I know youll end up with something amazing!!
We bought our house in 2010 and I'm still an obsessed house hunters and my first place and property virgin watcher. My house obsession did go down a little but I still love looking at 'em just for fun. Good luck with the house hunt. It's a roller coaster ride but it's worth it.
That room with all of the windows? That house. Buy that house.
looks like a great house, with lots of awesome space. it would be so awesome to have a camera crew like on house hunters ;)
Those expansive spaces! So nice! Good luck on your search!!
That house looks amazing! So much room and a *ton* of potential to turn it into your own. It sounds like you're having fun and not stressing, which I'm happy to hear. :) Good luck!
I'd love to spend a night chatting with my friends at the backyard, LOL. You've gotta love the soothing environment. Well, the house looks like a mansion, Morgan.
