Anyway, I'm from Washington State so I can make fun of it. I also love the place, but only in the summer. I also happen to newly be a fan of a martini inspired by the state fruit, the apple (apparently 42% of of the apples grown in the USA are from Washington). I discovered this drink a few months ago and made quite a few of these for people in our hotel room on my recent Chicago trip, but since after drinking one you might not remember the recipe, I thought I'd post it here. Usually this is served as a shot, but I prefer it as a martini.
Washington Apple Martini
Pour into a martini shaker:
2 shots of Crown Royal
1 shot of Apple Pucker
Add 4 ice cubes to the martini shaker and fill rest of the shaker with Cran-Apple juice (or cranberry + apple juice will work as well) until it's almost full. Shake well and strain into a martini glass. garnish with a slice of lime or mint leaves.
Yum! It's refreshing enough to drink in the summer and crisp enough to still be delish in the winter.
And a couple of you have commented in all of the kitty photo bombs I've been including in posts lately. This is not a fluke, they are always trying to interfere with my picture taking! Maybe they get jealous when the camera is focused on something other than them?
Proof from just taking simple pictures of my martini:
Sniff sniff
Holding back, but curious enough to get into my frame
Do you have a favorite new drink this summer? Or any pets that like to bomb photos?

That looks yummy! Shawn and I have thought of moving to the Pacific NW many a time; we LOVE rain.
I just want to snuggle that kitteh. And make an LOLcat out of that last picture...
I'll definitely have to try this drink! I have been wanting to try a watermelon-basil margarita that I saw on Martha Stewart's website . . . maybe I'll get around to it this weekend!
This was so yummy! I like how I showed up the first night in your room with a mug of wine and a bottle in both hands, and the first thing you did after giving me a hug was say, "Want a Washington Apple Martini?!" Hahaha that's how we roll. What did you wind up doing with all that leftover alcohol?
I LOVE rain - but thats why I live in Florida. Warm rain showers are my favorite!
Haha, what can I say, I'm a good hostess :)
And I made some of the ladies who didn't have to fly home take the booze off our hands. There was a lot in our room that we didn't know who it belonged to!
Warm showers are nice. Cold and grey showers and drizzle for weeks on end, without seeing the sun for more than a couple of days each month is not so nice.
Florida (and NC, for that matter) rain is SO much better!
a washington apple martini is so summer! i really like lychee martinis :)
That sounds awesome! I might have to suggest it as a shot too next time someone offers to buy a round of shots, cause it sounds more fun than the usual suspects!
MMMmmmm Washington Apple Martinis are one of my favs, but I haven't had one in a long time. Thanks for the reminder!
