Even though this is the beginning of our third spring living in North Carolina (we moved this week, exactly two years ago), I'm still amazed by the trees out here. They go through change so much more quickly than trees on the west coast do. In fall they turn beautiful colors for a few weeks, and then seem to all fall to the ground overnight. And in spring, in less than one weeks time, everything explodes with greenery.
Taken this morning off our deck:
And taken on Saturday, with a little preview of the back of our first prototype of the deck furniture we're building:
It makes me wish I would have set up my camera and done a time lapse video of all of the green leaves appearing overnight!
The only downside is that with the explosion of green comes a nice layer of pollen. It was so thick yesterday that one of my cats tried to make a snow angel in it.
Thank goodness we had some rain last night to wash some of the pollen away. And now we can enjoy spring out on our deck, as soon as we finish building our furniture! Got to soak it all up before the humidity and heat hit in a few months.
Has spring sprung where you are yet? Anyone else hoping to enjoy some time outside this weekend? My birthday was this week, so tonight we're celebrating by going to one of my favorite outdoor bars with a view of downtown for drinks and apps, then to a tapas restaurant with outdoor seating for dinner, followed by going to the classiest dive bar in Raleigh for a skee ball match that I've challenged my husband to.

Oh my gosh, that is too funny that you can see the cat's outline on the deck! It's supposed to finally get a little warmer this weekend, and I can't wait!
I'm literally LOLing seeing your cat's "pollen angel".
Your birthday plans sound amazing! Happy belated, and I love that kitty "crime scene" mark on your deck!
Happy birthday! I hope you have fun celebrating! Spring has definitely sprung here in DC, and it's actually been a bit too hot this past week. I'm hoping we get to enjoy some springlike weather before summer rushes in.
Blech. Pollen season!! The chair is coming along great. Have a great birthday!!!
I hope you had a great birthday! Lol at the pollen angel. Love the peek at the furniture you are building! Spring arrived in New England for a few days and now we will have freezing temps overnight. So ready for warmer weather!
