First Small Step Toward Decorating the Breakfast Nook

The breakfast nook is one (of many) places we still haven't really done anything to in our house. It's a somewhat narrow space between our kitchen and family room, and other than set up a card table, some old chairs and stools when we moved in, we haven't touched it since.

But because I'm going to be stealing the old ugly bar stools for our garage makeover, it was high time we upgraded to new stools. Just about anything would be better than the old ones that we inherited in college, that were similar looking but not a matched pair, and had dog teeth marks from an old roommate's dog.

I'd had my eye on these Tabouret Metal Stools from Overstock for a while now though, so when the time came, these were in my shopping cart in a matter of seconds.

At $89.99 for the set of two, they're a great price, and just one small step toward decorating our breakfast nook area.

And they'll look even better when we get around to painting the kitchen cabinets, and getting rid of the wood paneling on the side of the peninsula (or maybe replacing it with beadboard). Plus, they'll look really nice on the dark walnut floors we plan to get for our 5th wedding anniversary.

I'm considering getting the matching chairs, since I like the look of these stools so much. But first we have to build a table for the nook, to replace the awful card table we've got there now. But to do that we've got to finish our garage, to have space to actually build furniture.

Miss Hailey approves of the new stools though. I think she might have even slept on one last night, because she was laying on one this morning.
