Last weekend we had the pleasure to attend a beautiful wedding on Saturday (which I won’t post about, but you can follow her recaps here). I was a good little blogger friend and uploaded about 340 pictures and 10 videos for them to enjoy while they wait for their pro pics to come back.
Then on Sunday we went to an amazing (but wet!) concert, to benefit The Bridge School. This was the 24th year this benefit concert has been organized by Neil Young, to support a school that is doing wonderful things for disabled children.
From the Bridge School’s website:
The Bridge School is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative & alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications and through the development, implementation and dissemination of innovative life-long educational strategies. The Bridge School is an internationally recognized leader in the education of children who use augmentative and alternative communication and has developed unique programs and trained highly skilled professionals in the use of state of the art assistive technology.
A ton of artists came together to put on a show for us, in support of The Bridge School:
- Buffalo Springfield
- Pearl Jam
- Elton John & Leon Russell
- Elvis Costello
- Ralph Stanley
- Neko Case
- Jeff Bridges
- Kris Kristofferson
- Modest Mouse
- Grizzly Bear
- And of course, Neil Young performed a few songs too.
A few photos from our wet afternoon and evening, although I couldn't take many with the on and off rain showers. Lots of umbrellas and rain gear!

Modest Mouse on the projector screen:
Some of the children from the Bridge School got a great seat, right on stage:
We were pretty much soggy and wet the entire 6 hour concert, thankfully I'd brought a hat and umbrella, although the plastic ponchos our friends wore would have been better!
Just look at those ominous clouds!
Elvis Costello:
Elton John & Leon Russell:
And the highlight (for me) was Pearl Jam, although by then it was dark, so I couldn't get any good pictures.
Although I did get a (poor quality) video:
I loved the Halloween lights between acts:
And the show ended with Buffalo Springfield:
Well, technically the show ended with Neil Young, but we wanted to beat the crowd, so took off at the end of Buffalo Springfield.
Have you ever been to a benefit concert before? Did you enjoy it more because you knew your ticket price was going to a good cause? I know I sure did!

Wow, that concert sounds amazing - and what a great cause!
Wow! those are some big names!
I've never been to a benefit concert but I'll have to find one around my area, it would feel great to know your not just supporting the artist but a bigger cause.
Looks like it was a great concert!
WOw, what an amazing line-up! I'm super jealous!
