{I’ve lost my micro USB cable to my jump drive, so all my work this weekend sorting photos and writing outlines for blog posts this week are trapped on my drive! I’m going to have to get a new cable tonight, but in the meantime, here is something that was, literally, keeping me up last night.}
I was reading yesterday on the Weddingbee boards about how one of the hive members has a five bedroom house, and two of their bedrooms are guest rooms, or sometimes her SO goes and sleeps in there, to get away from her snoring. And I thought to myself, wow, I would never do that.
Of course, I’m hella lazy. This fact about me has been well established on this blog.
But yes, my husband snores, and it drives me crazy sometimes. But especially this time of year, I would never think to go sleep in another room. I’m all snuggled in my warm cocoon of comforter + electric blanket (but still no top sheet!). Heck no, I’m not leaving bed for anything. Besides, I’m not the problem, why should I have to leave!
So how do I deal with his snoring? Take last night for example. I like to fall asleep with the TV on, and a white noise machine. But my husband doesn’t really like the TV on for very long, so we usually set a 30 minute sleep timer on it. Well, last night, the TV clicked off, and woke me up, as it occasionally does when it goes off. Less than 10 minutes later, the snoring started. And I was instantly annoyed; it’s definitely not something I can fall asleep listening to, even with the white noise machine.
So my solutions are:
1) Gently shake the bed to see if he’ll turn over (luckily he only snores on his back)
2) Move the blanket
3) Pull the blanket off of his head (since he usually sleeps with his head under it)
4) Start jabbing him with my elbow or knee
More often than not, I have to get to step #4 before he turns over and the snoring stops. But I swear, they are jabs of love! :) He really gets the better deal in the end, since I only ever snore when I have a cold, so he rarely has to go through the same middle of the night torture that I do.
Does your SO have a snoring problem? How do you deal with it, can you just ignore it, or do you have your own tricks for getting some peace and quiet?

for a snoring husband I do all those things, in just about that order!
(and even if I wanted to get a way, i have no where else to sleep!)
J snores and I so about the same thing. He only really snores on his back (unless he's really tired) so I shake his shoulder and he rolls over. Also last night I noticed if I turn over and face him and get a little too close he rolls over in his sleep hahaha
Haha, yes! My husband only snores on his back, too, so I flop up and down until he rolls over. My favorite is when I have to wake him up and he denies that he was snoring. It's like, "ummm, I'm pretty sure you don't know that, since you were asleep and SNORING!" LOL.
I sleep with earplugs in and plaster Breathe Right strips on him. No joke.
I do the kicking and jabbing thing when hubs snores. I should look into getting a white noise machine. Saw one when I was shopping recently and I'm intrigued!
I completely know what you mean! My husband snores on his back, too, and getting him to stop always involves poking and jabbing him till he turns on his side. I would never go into another room to sleep, I need my damn cuddles!
I know how you feel! Mike snores, but only incertain positions. I, too, go straight for step four. I just smack him and he goes "what?" and I say "snoring" and then he says "oh" and rolls over into a different non-snore inducing position. :)
When Josh snores I do the same things :) Great minds think alike! Sometimes I wake up not feeling well (tummy issues) so I usually go out to the living room and watch tv or get on my computer and spend the rest of the night out there. But that's a pretty rare occasion and pretty much the only reason I'd leave the bedroom. But ya know, every couple is different, I guess!
