{I’ve lost my micro USB cable to my jump drive, so all my work this weekend sorting photos and writing outlines for blog posts this week are trapped on my drive! I’m going to have to get a new cable tonight, but in the meantime, here is something that was, literally, keeping me up last night.}
I was reading yesterday on the Weddingbee boards about how one of the hive members has a five bedroom house, and two of their bedrooms are guest rooms, or sometimes her SO goes and sleeps in there, to get away from her snoring. And I thought to myself, wow, I would never do that.
Of course, I’m hella lazy. This fact about me has been well established on this blog.
But yes, my husband snores, and it drives me crazy sometimes. But especially this time of year, I would never think to go sleep in another room. I’m all snuggled in my warm cocoon of comforter + electric blanket (but still no top sheet!). Heck no, I’m not leaving bed for anything. Besides, I’m not the problem, why should I have to leave!
So how do I deal with his snoring? Take last night for example. I like to fall asleep with the TV on, and a white noise machine. But my husband doesn’t really like the TV on for very long, so we usually set a 30 minute sleep timer on it. Well, last night, the TV clicked off, and woke me up, as it occasionally does when it goes off. Less than 10 minutes later, the snoring started. And I was instantly annoyed; it’s definitely not something I can fall asleep listening to, even with the white noise machine.
So my solutions are:
1) Gently shake the bed to see if he’ll turn over (luckily he only snores on his back)
2) Move the blanket
3) Pull the blanket off of his head (since he usually sleeps with his head under it)
4) Start jabbing him with my elbow or knee
More often than not, I have to get to step #4 before he turns over and the snoring stops. But I swear, they are jabs of love! :) He really gets the better deal in the end, since I only ever snore when I have a cold, so he rarely has to go through the same middle of the night torture that I do.
Does your SO have a snoring problem? How do you deal with it, can you just ignore it, or do you have your own tricks for getting some peace and quiet?
