Imagine this:
You get to spend all day playing video games and messing around with circuit boards, while delicious smells of garlic, rosemary and carrot drift out of the kitchen. Then, your lovely wife lights a fire, places candles around the room, and puts on some music. Next, she serves you “Frenched rack of lamb, cut into finger-food lollipops, soaked in Port, caramelized on the grill, then topped with a fresh, biting sauce made from soft, sweet garlic and parsley,” along with garlic-rosemary-balsamic potatoes, salad, and carrot cake cupcakes for dessert.

Oh yeah, and while you’re imagining this, pretend you’re a dude. My husband, specifically.
So, sound good?
It sounds pretty damn good to me! But after looking at these recipes, it sounds hard. Very, very hard to make for this culinary amateur, especially the lamb, which I’ve never made before.
Grilled Port Lamb Chops with Garlic Confit and Sauce Vierge "Persillade"
Glazed Rosemary and Garlic Potatoes
Carrot Cake Cupcakes
But you know what? I’m going to try it anyway! This is what I’m going to attempt to make for my husband this weekend for Valentine’s Day. It will be my most challenging cooking attempt ever, and hopefully everything will turn out good. But if not, I know my husband loves me enough to eat it anyway. Or order take out. But it can’t turn out much worse than pizza and TV reruns, which I think is what last year’s Valentine’s Day entailed (he was in charge of our plans last year).
So wish me luck, and I’ll be sure to report back next week on how these dishes turned out!

Wooow. My first thought is, your husband sounds just like mine. My second thought is, you're crazy! But then my third thought was (yes, I'm still going) I kind of want to do this too, now. :) Good luck!!
Good luck, lady! I know you can do it - I think craftiness and cooking ability go hand-in-hand, and we all know you have the craftiness down. My advice for the lamb - invest in a good meat thermometer so you don't have to tear the meat apart to check if it's done. And check it often, since you can always cook it longer, but it's too late if it has already burned. Can't wait to hear how it turns out :)
Depending on the cost of lamb chops (I have no idea what they cost) I am TOTALLY stealing this.
Carrot cake is the only real cake that my hubby will eat - it was our wedding cake!
Plus, he doesn't get home till almost 8 on Monday's so I'll have more than enough time to prepare!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!
He's a lucky guy! That sounds like an amazing menu and I have total faith in you, you can do it! :D
I think you'll do great! I would be petrified to make this, too! But, I bet it will be all worth it in the end! Our plans are PF Changs and the Bachelor! :)
Good luck! Sounds delicious! :)
Dang girl! Mine is working all day, then we're going to trivia with our friends as usual, and probably having tacos beforehand. Will you move here so we can hang out with people that can cook? You can do this. :) Good luck!
Carrot cake cupcakes sound so good! You'll do great!
Unfortunately, I'll be working at a golf tournament all day and night (dinner after golf) on Valentine's Day, but we're celebrating the day before on our Engage-iversarry.
Wow - those recipes look incredibly tasty! My mouth started watering when I was reading the description!
sounds amazing--good luck! it'll be a wonderful dinner no matter what.
