Outdoor Dining Chairs

Ok, I know it's been going on over a year now that I've been talking about outdoor furniture. But we've finally made a little bit of progress!

Still no lounge chairs (final prototype version 3 is built though, we just need to finish the garage project to have room to build the rest), still no new outdoor dining table (also planning on building), but we finally agreed upon and ordered some dining chairs!

They are so comfy with the ability to rock. Now I just can't wait for all four of them to be delivered in a week or two!

We actually ordered them without the chair cushions, because we weren't crazy about the beige or the bright teal color options (in person the blue option is a lot brighter/more neon than in the website photos). Instead we're getting deeper blue Sunbrella cushions that I ordered online (and I also ordered matching cushions that will fit the lounge chairs we're building).

I also really liked how in the in-store display at Crate and Barrel they had different chairs at the ends of the dining table, similar to this picture.

But.....$249 (or on sale for $199 even) for a painted wicker chair was a bit more than I'm willing to spend.

Especially when we have two perfectly good, although not painted, wicker chairs that we got years and years ago from IKEA for probably $30 each. Which just so happen won't have a place to live in our house in the near future. In the past we had them on covered porches in our previous places, but the wicker chairs are now are just acting as place holders around our breakfast nook table until we get real chairs (and a real table for that matter!).

So I'm hoping I'll pretty easily be able to recreate the look from Crate and Barrel with our old chairs, some blue spray paint and a couple of coats with a protective finish, for way, way cheaper. 

Have you ever spray painted wicker before? Or tried copying in-store displays for a lot cheaper? I had pretty good luck painting our ancient and paint-peeling old metal chairs last summer, so I'm hoping these will be easy too!
